Tools, Problems, Audience
Apr 15th, 2009 | By Jack Rynes | Category: Business Process Optimization, CEBPEvery toolset evolves. Archaeological evidence validates the historic progression of and improvements in prehistoric hunting tools over hundreds and thousands of years. Metal ore and heat were combined in ways that gave tools the ability to withstand chipping, breaking or other types of damage. Over time, toolmakers engaged in problem definition, tool creation and improvement. Evolution is a constant.
There is a parallel with communication tools used in enterprises today. As work group managers, we are constantly seeking ways to overcome communication, workflow and process problems. Once we identify a problem we run to the IT staff — the “tools craftsman” of today — to help us solve it. We explain, “I need this data in this format; I need this report; I need this work group to talk to that one.” Often, work group managers sit and wait for their turn in the “I need!” queue to get their problems solved.
There’s an evolution taking place among tool creators. In the past, the tools for solving communications problems were created by IT folks for IT folks. Today, a better set of tools that integrate with enterprise software are now being offered by companies like Serena, Xignite and StrikeIron. They are already made, easy to customize, easier to install, require zero infrastructure cost, and work better and faster than corporate IT solutions.
At Jaduka, we believe communications TOOLS need to solve basic PROBLEMS and integrate easily within the frameworks of the enterprise to better serve its AUDIENCE.
